Mixing Guide
Mixing Guide
How to get your tracks ready for release and club playback.
Levels and Balance
Start with the kick at a consistent level. Build the mix around it. Every element should have its place in the frequency spectrum.
EQ
Cut before you boost
Use high-pass filters on non-bass elements
Avoid frequency buildup in the low-mids
Reference commercial releases
Compression
Use compression to glue elements together, not to make things louder. Parallel compression can add weight without killing dynamics.
Stereo and Space
Keep low end mono
Use stereo width sparingly
Reverb and delay for depth
Check in mono
